Mission Statement

Introduction to Project Management

Project management is the application of good management practices in a structured manner and choosing appropriate automated tools which can help you. The skill lies in identifying the circumstances in which these practices should be applied, and the best way to do so. This course teaches the main areas of project management. By understanding these areas and applying some of the techniques we can improve our chances of managing projects to a successful completion.
Topics Include


* Understanding of a Project/Project Management
* Feasibility Study (Main topics of Feasibility Study)
* Defining objectives of the project using Logical * Framework (LogFrame)

- Goal Level, Purpose Level, Output Level and Activity Level objectives, their cause and effect links, Performance Indicators, MOVs and Assumptions

* Preparation of Project Initiation Document (PID) including

- Explanation of scope
- Constraint,
- Resources ,
- Strategy ,
- Anticipating / Managing risks ,
- Roles and responsibilities.

* Techniques of Developing Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

- Practice in the class


* Explain and show practically Activity Network Diagram
* Explain and show practically Critical Path Analysis
* Detailed Planning creating Gantt chart, Assigning resources
* Controlling and Monitoring project activities.
* Evaluation of the project

- Main topics of Progress/Status Reporting

* Use Microsoft Project - 2000 in Project Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation of the Project
* Discussion on the reasons for failure of the project.

Course Work
At the end of the course the candidate will be given a written and practical examination along with the course work. After submission of the course work, the candidate will be awarded the certificate of course completion from Regal International College.
Prerequisites

The candidate should have the basic fundamental computer and programming knowledge. Relevant commercial experience is a plus point.
