What is the ICCS?
The International Certificate in Computer Studies (ICCS) is ideal for
you if you are looking for a foundation course in IT. This one year
certificate level course will introduce you to a broad area of topics
relating to the use of IT in business, enabling you to move on to further
study or obtain employment using IT in a business environment.
Who is ICCS for?
This course has been designed to be suitable for anyone from a school
leaver to a mature adult looking to change their career. It can be taken as a full time course, part time
course or as individual modules.
Entry requirements
Students must be able to demonstrate that they have previously studied English at secondary school level and must obtain the required minimum standard in the NCC Education Higher English Placement Test (HEPT). Alternatively a student must have a valid score of 5.5 or

The course consists
of five taught modules:
1) Study and Communication Skills -
will equip students with
the essential study skills needed to succeed at university.
2) Mathematical Techniques - aims to develop basic mathematical competence to enable mathematics to be used with confidence.
3) IT Skills - aims to provide students with an introduction to the IT skills that will be required in their studies.
4) Introduction to Computing -provides a basic introduction to a range of computing and IT topics.
5) Programming - this module makes extensive use of the modern programming language Visual Basic 2008 Express.
Assessment
The programme is assessed by assignments and
examination.

After the ICCS
Successful students may progress to the NCC Education International Diploma in Computer Studies. Alternatively, the skills and understanding acquired on this programme will support competent computing practice in the workplace in any of the popular desktop computing
environments, but particular emphasis is placed on Microsoft Windows. Potential roles may include Network Assistant or Web Assistant.
