Mission Statement

OCR LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATE FOR IT USERS (NEW CLAIT)

1) EXAMINATION BOARD: OCR (Oxford Cambridge and Royal society of arts)

2) AIMS:

The qualification aims to:
1. Develop candidates' knowledge of standard IT hardware and software and their ability to operate equipment correctly and safely
2. Develop candidates' knowledge of a range of different software applications and their ability to use different applications effectively to complete tasks
3. Develop candidates' ability to manage documents and data in a variety of applications
4. Develop candidates' ability to enter data accurately
5. Develop candidates' skills and knowledge in contexts that are directly relevant to employment situations
6. Encourage progression by assisting in the development of skills and knowledge that learners will need to undertake further study

3) TARGET AUDIENCE:

The scheme is aimed at anyone who wishes to use a variety of computer applications effectively. It is suitable for candidates in schools or colleges, and for those in or entering employment. The scheme provides a broad basis for those intending to go on to specialised or advanced studies.

4) LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT:

New CLAIT has been designed to assess skills at level 1/Foundation Level of the National Qualifications Framework, and is comparable in demand to NVQs at Level 1 and GNVQs at Foundation Level

5) CERTIFICATION:

Candidates who achieve the core unit (Unit 1) plus four optional units will be awarded an OCR Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (New CLAIT)
Neither the full qualification nor the individual units are graded.
Candidates who achieve fewer than the number of units required for a full qualification will be awarded a unit certificate for each unit achieved.


6) CANDIDATE PROFILE:

New CLAIT caters for the full range of learners in IT, whether in school, college training further education or employment. It is ideally suited for those who have had only a very basic introduction to the use of IT, are working at Level 1, and who wish to gain accreditation for newly acquired skill at this level.

7) QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE AND FORM OF ASSESMENT:

In order to achieve the OCR Level 1 Certificate for IT Users (New CLAIT), candidates must achieve the core unit plus for optional units

8) ELIGIBILITY:

None

9) DURATION:

Each unit takes approximately 15 - 20 hours. (Targeted to complete within 5 weeks)

10) COURSE FEE:

Course fee includes registration fee Examination and Certification.

11) SPECIAL FEATURE:

Individual Unit Certificate can be achieved depends on individual's needs.
