| This
Diploma in IT level (incorporating Diploma Project) of BCS Professional Examinations is the academic equivalent to Year 2 of a UK university honours degree and is recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) as Level 5. |

To understand the
context - ethical, social legal, financial and organisational - in which
professional information Systems Practitioner work. |

Objectives |
Show an understanding
of the role of professional codes of conduct and apply them to specific
situations.
Understand the
nature and legal standing of a range of organisations.
Understand the
range of functions that exist in an organisation, the need for organisational
structure and the characteristics of various types of structure.
Understand and
read, at a basic level, a balance sheet, a profit and loss account,
and a cash flow statement.
Understand and
calculate, in simple cases, the basic information needed for day-to-day
financial management.
Understand the
main pieces of legislation that apply to the profession and recognise
situations to which they are relevant.
Understand the
mechanisms used to protect computer software and the reasons for such
protection. |

Professional Project |
In order to finish the Diploma in IT level candidiates must complete a project with a recommended minimum study time of 200 hours.
Successful completion of the project and examination enables you to apply for selected degrees courses with UK universities and means you are eligible to apply for BCS Membership (MBCS) if you have 2 years' expereince as an IT Professional. |

Prerequisites |

The
candidate should have the basic fundamental computer and programming
knowledge. Relevant commercial experience will be a plus. |
